SafeHabitus Transnational CoP meets to discuss farm safety and farmer health needs and develop 2024 – 2025 work programme

On the afternoon of 9 April 2024, attention turned to the work of the SafeHabitus Transnational Community of Safe Farm Practice. Partners representing the 11 SafeHabitus CoPs met to reflect on the work completed to date, discuss the planned work for 2024 and discuss the farm safety and farmer health needs and issues identified by their CoP.

The meeting heard a presentation from Patricia Martínez Sáez (AEIDL) who has completed a baseline evaluation of the establishment of the 11 SafeHabitus CoPs and the implementation of a social innovation process designed to ensure the inclusion of a diversity of perspectives in the identification of farm safety and farmer health needs and issues. This evaluation forms the basis of a key deliverable, which will be available on www.safehabitus.eu/outputs in the near future, providing an overview of the SafeHabitus CoPs established in 11 different EU Member States, a preliminary assessment of their composition, and the knowledge, beliefs and attitudes of CoP participants relating to farm safety and farmer health. The report will ultimately serve as a basis for the project’s evaluation and as a starting point against which progress can be compared over the lifetime of the project. This deliverable was co-ordinated by Dr Jarkko Leppälä (LUKE) and led and authored by Patricia Martínez Sáez (AEIDL), and contains input from all 11 CoPs.
