Results of research conducted in Romania within the SafeHabitus project were presented at the international conference “FORTHEM – For the Future” (March 6-8, 2024). The FORTHEM Alliance is a network comprising nine public multidisciplinary research universities, with strong regional roots in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Spain.

The paper co-authored by researchers from Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu under the title “Health and Safety in Sheep Farming in Romania: The Multi-Actor Perspective of SafeHabitus” was presented in the panel “Physical and mental health in complex times of crisis, and economic and political instability.”

The presentation included aspects about the SafeHabitus project, details about the Community of Practice in Romania, methodological insights about the qualitative data collected within the project’s framework, as well as preliminary results regarding the main health and safety issues and challenges identified for those working in sheep farming in Romania. The identified challenges were grouped according to their specificity and corresponded to structural, socio-cultural, and economic dimensions.

The presentation provided an opportunity to reflect on the collected data and engage in dialogue with established researchers about the results obtained in Romania during the first part of the project.
