The “Women for the Polish agriculture” conference, organised by the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was held on October 3, 2023 at the National Institute of Culture and Rural Heritage in Warsaw.

SafeHabitus Polish team members Joanna Makulska and Barbara Tombarkiewicz from the University of Agriculture in Krakow attended the event. They informed the participants about the SafeHabitus project, its goals and activities, and encouraged cooperation, especially through the Community of Practice.

Ms Makulska was invited to participate in an Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS)-organised panel entitled: “Women as ambassadors for security in the Polish farms”. The discussion covered the following issues: the dangers of working on a farm, the role of  women in ensuring safety on a farm, farm work-life balance, diet and rest as part of farm work safety. The conference provided an opportunity to award citations to the winners of a competition organised by the Women’s Council in Agriculture (WCA), an organisation that brings together members of agricultural organisations, agricultural chambers and industry organisations. Other discussion points per the WCA’s mission included: analysing the current situation of women in rural areas and identifying problems, giving opinions on draft legal acts relating to areas directly or indirectly related to equal rights and the situation of women and girls in farm and rural life.
